At just after 3:18 AM PDT an insanely-bright Perseid meteor streaked across the sky and exploded a little fireball about 3/4 of the way through. This was the best meteor shower I've seen since the Leonids of 2001.
Shot in Noble Canyon in the Cleveland National Forest in Mount Laguna, California.
Just below the meteor is the Pleiades.
I stayed up until dawn this morning and the night before shooting the Perseids. While the show didn't put out 200 meteors an hour, it was the best meteor shower I've seen in a long time.
Also, beginning a few hours earlier the humidity got over 80% up here and started fogging up the lens. Fortunately I had a battery-powered lens heater ( Dew-Not ) that came to the rescue.
