Geminid Meteor Shower 2017 Over El Centro From Dos Cabezas in the Anza-Borrego Desert

The epic Geminids of 2017. Unlike many meteor showers over the past several years, the 2017 Geminid meteor shower certainly lived up to all the hype. Actually, it was far better than the hype. So many bright and slow-moving fireballs all over the sky! The only better meteor shower I have ever experienced was the Leonids of 2001.

I camped at Dos Cabezas siding in the southern portion of Anza-Borrego Desert State Park from the evening of December 13 through the morning of December 14, 2017. T

This is a composite of the best frames from about 1:30 AM through 3:45 AM on 12/14/2017. All meteors seen here are in the actual locations they appeared in the sky. The lights in the background are from the town of Ocotillo and the city of El Centro, California. Yes, these meteors were bright enough to be seen among the light pollution above these communities. One meteor here traveled in more of a horizontal path - perhaps it was something other than a Geminid?
